My Review

I had been working in Singapore for 2 months and not been in the water so I figured it was about time to get in the water because my gills were drying out.

A guy I had been working with suggested that I talk to Dave at Friendly Waters. After talking with Dave he suggested that I take a weekend trip with them up to his resort on Pulau Aur.

So, on Friday afternoon I boarded the coach at the Friendly Waters Dive Shop and we started our adventure. The Friendly Waters staff helped everyone going though customs in both Singapore and Malaysia. The coach ride took us to Mersing Jetty where we then boarded the ferry with sleeping berths to continue our trip to Pulau Aur.

We stayed at the Friendly Waters Resort on Pulau Aur overlooking the Aur/Dayang channel. The rooms are 2 or 4 person cabins. They all have A/C and private bathrooms. There is buffet style dinning after every dive plus fresh fruit and tea/coffee at all times. Plus there is a BBQ on Saturday evening.

You can do up to 4 dives on Saturday including a night dive and 2 dives on Sunday. We started out by diving at site called Eagle Island which is an island at the end of the channel. As I have never dived in the area before, I enjoyed be able to see different aquatic life than I normally see in the Caribbean. There were tons of elkhon coral and nudibranchs.

Then we visited a few other sites that had many huge rocks. Probably my favorite site was called Pannicle. It is a raised area just outside the channel, where I saw more elkhorn coral anemone and clown fish. It was great to see things I had never seen before and just makes me want to dive more than ever. I know that this planet is huge and I will never run out of new things to see.

Friendly Waters also has a live-aboard that you board at the ferry dock in Singapore and can dive much of the same areas but remain on the boat with out having to do any transfers.

Would you recommend this to a friend?

Yes
