My Review
: This steel ship was sunk in 1999. It was meticulously cleaned and made ready for divers with attention to providing a safe environment for all levels of diving. First of all, the boat ride to the site was about 30 minutes from the harbor and was such a beautiful trip, the scenery in this part of the wold is stunning.
Our captain gave us a through briefing c/w sketches of what to expect on the wreck below. We decided to start with the 80' deck at the stern and work our way around to the wheelhouse.
As we began our descent on the line, I could see the wreck 60' down...very impressive. She sits perfectly upright in about 100' of water. We noticed that the wreck was clean and free of growth or critters (no zeebs!) Hard to believe- amazing viz and no muscles...wow. We began swimming along the companionway at about 80'.The stern of the wreck is definately the most interesting with loads of cabins and rooms to explore. The ambient light was such that we didn't need lights, I carried a small light in my pocket & didn't even use it. We were able to enter the galley where there were still dishes and cups on the table and continue through to the other side of the ship! We finished our dive by going to the wheelhouse - you can swim through the windows and stand at the wheel - we just about saw the whole ship from there.
Saying good bye to the wreck as we came up the line, we were plesantly surprised by the ever warming water. Our safety stop was done at a balmy 68 degrees.
This is an amazing wreck and certainly deserves several dives - we were only able to do the one so are planning on coming back. There is so much to see !!!
