Favorite Dive Destination - Round 1: South-East Asia

Wednesday April 2, 2008

A couple of days ago I was asked what my favorite diving destination is. I really couldn't narrow it down to just one, even after giving it a lot of thought. It got me thinking about what locations are the favorites of most divers. At first it seemed like it would be a quick and simple list but as soon as I started to write down all the contenders I realized that it was far from simple and the list is actually quite long. So, I've decided to take a bit of a survey - we'll start regionally and then the winners can battle it out for the title of 'About.com Readers' Favorite Scuba Destination'.

Let's get the competition started with a real hot spot for diving - South-East Asia. From popular certification centers such as Ko Tao and Phuket to remote epic diving venues like Minado and Sipidan, South-East Asia has all sorts of tropical diving with all sorts of marine life. South-East Asia finds itself right in the middle of the Indo-Pacific and benefits from it's exposure to both oceans. It's definitely a region for the tropical divers amongst us who enjoy the friendliness of the locals mixed with fantastic bargains on everything from t-shirts to liveaboard diving trips. Where's your favorite place in South-East Asia? Or, if you haven't been yet - where do you most want to go?

Vote on the poll and visit the forum to let us know which place is the best and why.

Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
