Destination of the Week: Mexico

Not many countries can boast stunning coral reefs, incredible fresh water caves, and cold water diving experiences with Great White Sharks and Whales, but Mexico has all of this and even more.
In the Sea of Cortez it's possible to dive with Seals and even Whales while 150 miles off the coast of Baja, way out in the Atlantic you'll find Isla Guadalupe - the number one place in the world to have a face to face encounter with a Great White Shark.
Of course, Mexico is equally famous for its Caribbean coast which is skirted by the northern section of the Belize Barrier Reef. The Yucatan resort towns of Cancun and Playa del Carmen draw in as many divers as the diving Mecca that is Cozumel. Further down the coast it's easy to get away from the crowds to find pristine diving in Mahahual and Xcalak.
The Yucatan is also world renowned for its cenotes - amazing underground caves filled with stalagmites, stalactites, and the clearest water you're ever likely to dive in.
Mexico is an excellent dive destination due to its abundant variety, friendly people, fantastic value, and let's not forget the amazing food and refreshing cervezas. For more about Mexico you can check out our new Mexican Gallery and stop by the forum to discuss all things Mexican.
