Favorite Dive Destination - Round 2: Mexico & Central America

Friday April 11, 2008

Last week we started the competition with South-East Asia. After a week of voting we have a three way tie between Cebu, The Similan Islands, and Phuket and it's surrounding islands. Looks like About.com readers like their Thai diving. If you haven't voted yet you can still help break the deadlock.

This week we're going to shift our focus to a very different diving environment - Mexico & Central America. With exposure to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans this area has a great amount of diversity. Tropical diving enthusiasts will be well and truly satisfied in Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, while those looking for something a bit different can dive in amazing fresh water caves (cenotes) in Mexico, a lake in Guatemala, or around the uninhabited and wild Cocos Island.

Vote on the poll and visit the forum to let us know which place is the best and why.

The list of favorite dive spots in Central America didn’t include Coiba and the Gulf of Chiriqui here in Panama has the great Ladrones formation, about 100 sq miles of pinnacles and reefs. Haven’t heard of it yet? You will!
